[Petition] Do we really need a parking & infrastructure worth Rs. 350 crores?
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh
You must be knowing that Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has proposed a parking & infrastructure at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib which is estimated to cost a whopping Rs. 350 crores.
Do you really think it is worth to spend this unjustifiably huge amount of money on parking which will be used in its capacity only 3 times a year?
Please think wisely. ACT NOW!
Also inform people who you think care for a brighter future of the Sikh Panth.

pending project of medical college at Bala Sahib which needs to be opened for sikh students so that Sikhs should achieve a
milestone in medical field , also in coming future lots of lots of opportunity are in medical field bcos with the down of economy in US
and EU medical sector will also be outsourced to India and we must equipped ourselves to survive in that period

Comments: DSGMC is reluctant to provide any information about their functioning. For this, penalty of more than Rs. one lakh has
been imposed on the DSGMC by the CIC. No budget is passed, no audit of accounts are done, there is no transparecy, large scale
corruption is there, illegal appointments are being made in schools/institutions to ruin the future of our children, there are cases of
sexual abuses against the Principals and Chairmans of these schools. Hence, Mr. Sarna has no right to stay in office leave aside to
start any project without the approval of the General House and the Sikh Sangat of Delhi, on whose offering the day to day affairs of
the DSGMC are being run.

Comments: It is not a new thing which is being done by a gurdwara committee. be it dgsmc or sgpc, all are making fool of people by
wasting hard earned money of sikhs.
i am sure that a large chunk of this money being wasted will go into the pockets of the concerned persons. otherwise they can't take
this type of drastic decision by building parking (most of the time useless) and destroying already built infrastructure.
THIS PLAN OF PARKING MUST MUST MUST MUST BE TAKEN BACK and money should be used to build FREE SCHOOLS FOR
SIKHS ONLY.

Comments: yes, i agree that before taking up such a big project involving an expenditure of rs.350crores, the DSGMC must take the
approval of the sangat to begin the work. I also feel that the present committee whose term has expired cannot take this decision.
So, first let the elections to the DSGMC be held and the incoming committee think over the project in association with the sangat.

Comments: Building a parking lot that will be used only occasionally, at a huge cost of Rs. 350 crore must be reconsidered. This
huge amount of money could be placed in an educational or cultural endowment, that could support fantastic developmental projects
for a very long time and yield huge collective benefits.
For 3 times in a year, the DSGMC could easily run charter buses to and from convenient public parking places that already exist.

and even not required keeping in view the huge space available outside of the Gurudwara Sahib. Basically the requirement of
parking is only 3-4 days in the year for which we have a number of alternate viable options which must be tried first atleast on 3
Gurpurabs on trial basis.
Community has lot of other neglected projects.

DSGMC may be petitioned to stop this wasteful project particularly so because the legal term of DSGMC is already over and the
elections are round the corner.
Further, GOCS must help Sikhs in filling up their forms for enrolement as voters for elections to the DSGMC else there shall be
manipulations like previous years. Delhi Government must also take note of it and stop DSGMC from acting in haste when their term
is already over.

There is 60 feet road outside the premises and a lot inside also. Above all, the gathering is usually during gurpurabs so why to spend
so much of money. Should spend on schools, Hospital pending at Gurudwara Bala sahib.
All we can judge is feeding their own trays on the name of parking.

park which is rarely going to be used, the money should be spent on other facilities which are necessary and required (like Hospitals,

There should be complete transparency on the monies being spent and for which purpose, otherwise we're again going to be playing

community looked up by others. We are no more at war nor do we own kingdoms where your philosophy has to be accepted but we
need to be holders of such skills and talent that it impacts the life of many. Professios such as doctors, politicians or business such
as hospitals & factories be looked upon. If required the community should develop institutions which bring out people armed
with qualifiction and finance. In today's times we need to be able to touch and better the lives of many other than our own family, if
we want to make life of our community easier. Let us use the money of the gurudwara judisiously so that the faith of people in a

DSGMC should focus other key issues of Panth from career of young sikhs to serving the meek.
It seems like DSGMC using Gurdwaras as medium of business from Gold cladding at Bangla Sahib now this Parking project to
attract more sangat hence more revenue just to fulfill its own selfish needs.

Comments: Its my humble request to the president of DSGMC that don't use the valuable resources in such development works
which will be benifitted only for few persons in the society. For example, such a huge parking complex is benificial only for the rich
people of the society. Such development projects are of no use for a common man who even hardly able to earn food twice a day.
These resources should be utilized in such a way so that a majority section of the society will be benifitted. This majority section of
the society must include those people who are actually in need of very basic needs.........
In last, I would like to appreciate the group of people who have taken such a bold initiative to guide the general public about
this basic cause. So, let put our hands together and raise voice against this issue.

frivolous causes like expansion of Gurudwaras, decorating them with gold, unnecessarily increasing the varieties of food items in
Nagar Kirtans where people don't have any respect for the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib but they focus on what they are
wearing and others are wearing, how much money they spend on their stalls.
Let us not be fooled by the so called Sikh leaders and try to help our fellow community members as well as countrymen, who cannot

Establishment of an air conditioned banquet hall styled as Lakhi Shah Vanjara Hall was a first step in that direction. Can a Sikligar or

Palkies, Marble studded buildings (including huge parking, which are used not many times in a year) and so called langars (with so
much variety) at the time of Nagar Keertans and other programmes and use the resources only for value based education to

We have so much huge resources and in case we decide to use them wisely then not only we can provide quality education to our
children but no Sikh needy family will sleep without food, no child will be deprived of education and no sick needy Sikh will suffer
because of lack of treatment/medicine. This way we can, perhaps, have not one Dr. Manmohan Singh but many more.

Comments: Respected President,
Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee,
Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
In any profession, before starting any project we do brainstorming on its feasibility. This is main part of any project. If we don’t do it,
then we wouldn’t be aware of whether we are in right direction or not. This is base of any project & only this phase decides that
whether we should go with project or not. This phase consists of following steps:
• Why we require the project?
• Whether project in question is necessity?
• Is there any alternate solution available?
• If project is for general people & if we invest same money in other project which will increase job & betterment of people,
then which one is better project?
• Ratio of people who will be affected by this project, both in pro & cons.
Veer g, we are aware of there are many people who got affected by 1984 genocide & either they are not having no source of
earning or their source of income is very less. Why we are not thinking in pushing them up? What I mean that why we are not
opening new industries & other options which will increase the opportunity of job. They are from the same religion which we
belongs to then can’t we do anything in upliftment of our brothers & sister?
I’m surprised, either you don’t read Guru Granth Sahib g or you don’t know the meaning of Hymns in it. It is written in GGSG that
‘our parent is one & we are child of parent, you are my brother’, then why didn’t we think on this. Why didn’t we invest the
money which we are going to invest in parking, which in no case help people, in some other project which will help in growth of
people?
Why we are thinking in biased manner? What you think, which is good
: a parking only for parking vehicles & that on some days, or getting blessing from people after giving them source of income?
We are already spending 25 corers in an irrelevant project, & again spending 350corers in another irrelevant project?? This is
not your personal money, it is money of community & for spending this you require permission from community. You can’t take
decision on your own. If you want, then spend 350 corers from your pocket not from community pocket.
Think these 350 cores are going from you own pocket & then check the feasibility of propjet. Then you will come to know
whither it is require or not. Spend same money in some other projects & increase job opportunities, you will find your self help.

Sikh leaders, despite various attack on the Panth, people and religious shrines have not understood the principles of Sikhism and
practice the teachings of our Great Gurus.
It is quiet clear that some of the leaders who are in Power have their vested interests which are of importance than Panthi Seva.
Sikh leadership has totally failed and not realized the need of the hour, how to halp develop the Panth and protect our historical

I sincerely, regret the attitude of such leaders and office bearers, if this type of attitude continues fate of Sikhs is
worse than that of Palistinens other minority communities and tribes.

alternate solution especially on the day of gurpurab which mite not occur more than 15 days a year.
Instead this big amount can be used for the noble cause humanity as stated in the letter above.
Further If found really necessary few of the amount may be 5-10% of it can be also used for parking by constructing a multistoried
building in the nearest proximity of the gurudwara but NOT at the cost of Lakhi Shah Vanjara hall, Langar hall etc.

Comments: Parking space in Gurdwara rakab Ganj Sahib is sufficient except for very few days in a year. We should rather promote
people to use public transport and share cars on these occasions. People may be requested to park their cars in Gurdwara Bangla
Sahib, if parking is not available nearby.
May I remind that condition of most of the Guru Harkrishan Public Schools is miserable to an extent that teachers are not getting
salaries on time. No quality conscious Sikh family sends its wards to these schools. I think that area demands much more and
urgent attention and we should avoid this wasteful expenditure.

students etc.
We must spend this money on productive cause like creating awareness of sikhism all over India as well as abroad.

We as responsible citizens and responsible Sikhs should rather set an example by promoting the use of Public Transport. Metro Rail
is already at the door steps of the Gurdwara. I don't see why people cannot leave behind their vehicles at home or park at one of the
Metro parkings close to the home and board the train.

Apart from the above very relevant issues, I would like to draw you attention another very relavant, but unfortunately very less
discussed issue. That is the way we celebrate our Gurpurabs.. specially the way we carry out nagar kirtans. Not just the comon
public is harrased, but our community's committment to enviromnement is negated. It is certainly the most wasteful use of fuel, and
certaily adds to the already high emission levels in our cities. There must be someother way to show our strenght.
Secondly..the wastage of food in the name of so called langar stall at every corner. This absolutely not a charity, but sheer wastage
in the name of relegion.
I am sure the Prabandhak committiee will give this a though

should spend it on gurudwara bangla sahib and other gurudwarey like:
-getting BOSE speakers on gurudwara sarovar of bangla sahib
-centrally airconditioning gurudwara bangla sahib which has never been achieved
and many more

most foolish activity to spend such a huge amount for so called parking for visit to Gurudwaras. As perGurudwaras recognized and

It would be very nice incase we can spend Rs. 150 croreand produce an equal number ofDoctors,Engineers and Intellectual in our
Sikh Community who may come up like S. Manmohan Singh and Allhuwaliya

Reason being that firstly their is no requirement or use of that Parking and secondly any sort of beautification which consumes

Comments: Aim of DSGMC appears to be to divert the attention of the Sikhs to non issues. As a small community to survive in this
world we have to excel in any field of our interest and be a good sikh. For achieving this education is the currency. All out efforts are
required to make arrangements to provide best environment for this in our institutions.

other large open grounds and provide shuttle service. This is how it is done in the Western countries, and there is no reason for not
doing it in India...........

We would request our Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee to divert these funds for some other purpose like opening
school, hospital and other social uplifting related tasks..instead of building parking space.
Above all, Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib does not have that much of sangat on regular basis that it needs that Huge investment and
at the same time with Guru sahib jee kirpa, Gurudwara sahib already has ample space currently.
Once again, please divert these funds for social uplifting our Sikh community

Comments: a) Completing Guru Harkrishan Hospital project at Gurdwara Bala Sahib. It is
understood that the project was given to an agency for completion, on partnership
basis, who had envisaged investment of Rs 200 Crores on their part. Since the
agency will invest a huge amount, only a few beds will be reserved for needy
families. If DSGMC invests the amount then all the beds will be available for poor
and needy, which will be as per teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib;
b) Set up a corpus fund of Rs. 150 Crores, on the lines of Maulana Azad Foundation
and utilise interest on the same for education and training etc. of needy families to
enable them to earn a better living and for increasing the representation of Sikhs
in Civil and Defence services.
In view of the above position, kindly reconsider and save on wasteful expenditure
at this juncture. We shall be grateful to you for this kind act.

History records leaders for their decisions. The impact of these decisions could put the whole community in lead or lag. Considering
the present state of Sikhs, panthic prudence would be to pledge all the duswandh only on education (primary, secondary, vocational,
research etc.) for next 25 years to strengthen the foundation of Khalsa educationally.

Actually, All the members of DSGM or SGPC are not intrested in sikhi intrest they are intrested in their own trival inverests. What will
they get by pouring the hard earning sikh money in their benefically work. By offering work tender of 350 crore they will certainlypocket half of it.
